Poverty is a condition in which a person or community is deprived of or lacks the essentials for a minimum standard of well-being and life.
Since poverty is understood in many senses, these essentials may be material resources such as food, safe drinking water, and shelter, or they may be social resources such as access to information, education, health care, social status, political power, or the opportunity to develop meaningful connections with other people in society.
Poverty may be linked to questions of scarcity and distribution of resources and power. The 2007 World Bank report warns that Africa in 2030 will be home to a larger proportion of the world's poorest people than it is today. To keep with the developed world pace, African countries like Kenya will need to develop models that address the root causes of poverty with the view of eliminating this menace.
Besides poverty, there has been an increase in crime and one of these is the proliferation of drugs which are readily consumed among the youth and the poor. The Driving Kenya Foundation was started as a nonprofit organization with the primary objective of fighting the poverty menace in our country.
As we focused on Kenyan issues with solutions by Kenyans First we identified 10 areas which we’ll work at to achieve the objectives of the firm. These are not the only programs the Foundation will be involved. They might from time to time undertake other charitable purposes of a public character established for the relief of poverty as the Trustees may from time to time think fit.

Secondly we looked at ways that our numbers can make a difference in helping eradicate poverty within our midst. That was the birth of One in a Million where one million of us by dedicated and monthly commitment of Ksh100 or more per month can make a difference to the least of our fellow brothers and sisters.
One in A Million will use the donations to fund the following projects and objectives which will work towards the eradication of poverty in Kenya. The initial focus will be in the slum areas and any area needing our help urgently.
With nearly 50% of the population living in abject Poverty the magnitude of the problem is huge and ours to solve - together. We need to re-examine ourselves and stop passing the buck and take control of our destiny of our people. This is one way that we can make that change that is so much needed.
